Francis J. Fodale

Visiting Associate Professor

Professor Fodale is a member of the Michigan State Bar and admitted to practice in the several courts of Michigan.  He is also admitted to practice before the Circuit Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the Sixth Circuit and Federal District Courts in Michigan, Minnesota and North Carolina and a registered Patent Attorney admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Professor Fodale began his teaching career at the Ave Maria School of Law in January 2006 as an adjunct professor teaching intellectual property courses at the Ann Arbor, Michigan campus.  He has been a visiting associate professor of law since August 2007 and moved to Naples, Florida with the Law School in August 2009. Before moving to Naples, Professor Fodale engaged in the private practice of intellectual property law for approximately sixteen years as a shareholder in Reising Ethington Barnes Kisselle P.C. and as a partner in Reising, Ethington, Barnard and Perry, PLLC in Troy, Michigan.

Before private practice, Professor Fodale spent nearly thirty-one years in corporate practice at General Motors Corporation starting as a patent searcher a the t U.S. Patent Office in Washington, D.C. and retiring as a Senior Attorney in the Intellectual Property Section of the General Motors Legal Staff in Detroit, Michigan. He is a past president of the Michigan Patent Law Association, and a past chairman of the Patent, Copyright and Trademark Section of the Michigan State Bar.
